Welcome you all to the course Academic English 4, which is the course for English at upper-intermediate level (B2 level according to CEFR - Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) focusing on IT major.

The main objective of this course is to help students acquire the vocabulary range in IT major and to enhance all language skills required for the upper-intermediate level.

This course is designed to further develop the IT learner's confidence and fluency in using the English language and to enrich their learning experience through interactive lessons and communicative exercises. Learners are able to study, understand and demonstrate knowledge of a vocabulary and grammar range at upper-intermediate level covered in lessons.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After finishing this course, learners can:

  • Apply target vocabulary for Computer Programmers when learning major subjects in IT
  • Apply target vocabulary for Web Design and Development when learning major subjects in IT
  • Apply target vocabulary for Web Hosting when learning major subjects in IT
  • Apply target vocabulary for new technology when learning major subjects in IT
  • Apply target vocabulary for mobile devices when learning major subjects in IT
  • Apply target vocabulary for Enterprise Content Management when learning major subject in IT
  • Apply target vocabulary for Database Administration and Project Management when learning major subject in IT
  • Rewrite sentences using passive forms and know when to use passives
  • Identify the differences between present perfect and past perfect
  • Apply the structures of relative clauses in writing and speaking
  • Identify and use reported speeches in different contexts
  • Understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in their field of specialization.
  • Communicate easily and spontaneously in a clear and detailed manner and is able to understand and be understood in most situations.
  • Interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party.
  • Produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

                                                              LEARNING EXPERIENCE :

                                                              This course will have 5 modules with 6 lessons, focusing on fundamental English skills: Vocabulary and Grammar, Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.

                                                              Each lesson will have one or several videos and links to be thoroughly studied, after that, students have to complete a quiz. After each module, students will be asked to do the progress tests, online practice tests and assignments. 

                                                              During the study process (6 weeks), the allocation of study is very important. If you have any questions, please connect with the mentors for support.
